Do your research
Gather design ideas for the style of home you'd like to have. Search the web for design inspiration for the different rooms in the home that you are going to be renovating, or adding to your home. Consider tiles, cabinetry, paint colour, tapware and all fittings and save them into a folder, or better yet create a Pinterest board with all of your design inspiration.
Create a plan
Create a plan for the layout of the space you are renovating with some rough drawings to assist the builder. Once you have set your heart on the design, confirm with a builder that it is achievable within your desired budget and the space you have available. You can then arrange to have the plans professionally drawn up, or seek assistance from your builder for a draftsman if required.
